Who it’s for

The clubs this is for are ones you cannot join by paying. We take each on its own case rather than against a fixed list — a club we have never heard of is welcome to make the argument. Apply and let us look.

What we’re building

A member hosts a visitor at his own club, and is hosted somewhere he could not otherwise play. The guest fee goes to the club at the club’s own rate. Nobody takes a cut of a green fee, and nobody ever will — that is brokering tee times, and it is not what this is.

The ledger records who has hosted and who has been hosted. It is a record, not a gate: a member who has taken more than he has given is not locked out, because a club is run by people rather than by software. What it is for is keeping the trade honest over years, the way a club’s own book would.

It is deliberately small. Every member was brought in by someone who vouched for him, and admission is the only thing this club is strict about. There is no directory, no rating, and no way to buy your way in.

Global Links Club is run by three members of clubs in Ireland and Northern Ireland.
